Senior: Samantha Tondo

Q: Do you enjoy Robotics?

A: “I do enjoy Robotics. I’ve had many great experiences over my last four years on the team.”

Q: Do you think Robotics has influenced you on choosing your major after High School?

A: “At first I wanted to be a teacher, but after working on the business team for Robotics, I’ve learned necessary life-long lasting skills and have become knowledgable in business. Robotics has influenced me into considering Business as a future career.”

Q: As a senior, what is something you’ve learned from Robotics?

A: “Thanks to Robotics, I learned how to come out of my shell. I was originally shy and reserved. Robotics helped me develop into an outgoing person. I learned to improve my communication skills with adults professionally, thanks to our delightful business team.”


Senior: Aidan Crowley

Q: How many years have you been in Robotics?

A: “I’ve been doing Robotics for four years.”

Q: What is something you will never forget about Robotics?

A: “I will never forget going to Detroit and watching all our hard work pay off on the World Stage.”

Q: What is a valuable lesson that will stick with you after High School life?

A: “A valuable skill I gained doing Robotics is learning how to work better on a team and also working together with other teams to reach a common goal which will be useful for any job regardless of discipline.”

Freshmen: Jocelyn Kaelin

Q: What is a valuable lesson you’ve learned from Robotics?

A: “I learned a lot about communication and patience from Robotics this year. Working in a big group proved to be a challenge with all of the different ideas flowing everywhere. Oftentimes members had similar ideas, and once they were heard it was easier to put together a cohesive game.”

Q: Can you say you’ve increased your friend circle with Robotics? Will you be doing Robotics next year?

A: “I have definitely increased my friend circle with Robotics! I got to know people I never would have thought of talking to and found some very fun friends. I will do Robotics again next year if everything goes according to plan!”

Q: Did you enjoy Robotics?

“I did enjoy Robotics. It was a fresh experience and unlike anything I have done before. It’s outside the box and different from the other programs at Southold. I loved that it was versatile and that we did something a bit different every day.”


Freshmen: Bryan Henry

Q: What is a valuable lesson you’ve learn from Robotics?

A: “During Robotics, I learned a lot about the importance of teamwork and how to work really well together as a group.”

Q: Can you say you’ve increased your friend circle with Robotics?

A: “Yes, I definitely have increased my friend circle through Robotics and got even closer with my current friends.”

Q: Did you enjoy Robotics? Will you be doing it next year?

A: “I loved doing Robotics this year and I am very excited for next year.”

Freshmen: Ava Rose

Q: Although you did not get enough of the
“robotics experience”, did you enjoy Robotics?

A: I did enjoy Robotics, I enjoyed being able to hang out with new people. As well as being able to help out, and learn just how amazing our Robotics team really is.

Q: What is something you learned from Robotics?

A: “One thing that I learned from Robotics is that with a group of people you can accomplish greatness. Also, that our robotics building department is really fun to be involved in, particularly, the building aspect.”

Senior: Jackson Volosik

Q: How many years have you done Robotics?

A: “I have done Robotics for four years in a row.”

Q: What department(s) have you worked in?

A: “I have done build team every time.”

Q: What is something you’ve learned from Robotics and will stay with you for the rest of your life?

A: I learned how to use each tool in the shop effectively and how to precisely measure and cut objects.

Junior: Ryan Palumbo

Q: What department(s) have you worked in and how long?

A: “My first year I participated in the business department. This year I participated in the game design department.”

Q: What is something valuable you’ve learned from Robotics?

A: “Robotics has taught me a few different valuable skills. One in particular was how to introduce ideas to a group, hear those of others, and work on combining all of the best parts of our ideas to create the best possible product. Collaboration is an important skill to have in any position, in the business world, science world, really any place or situation.”

Q: Can you compare and contrast this year’s Robotics to other previous years?

A: “This year was quite the doozy! With the pandemic, the measures that we were required to take actually caused the formation of the game design department, which I was a part of and enjoyed very much! I feel like this environment was a bit more depressed, because of the way we have had to treat the situation, but in the end, I truly have enjoyed working together and having fun with the team.”


Sophmore: BRendan Kilcommons

Q: Do you enjoy Robotics and why?

A: “I love Robotics, because I get to be with my friends, meet new people and travel around for big competitions.”

Q: What’s something valuable you’ve learned in Robotics?

A: “From Robotics, I’ve learned how important the little things are and to take your time.”

Q: Considering today’s situation with COVID, will you be doing Robotics next year?

A: “I definitely plan on doing Robotics next year.”
